Ted Baker Store Launch

Ted Baker opened his first South African store on the 11th of August this year in Sandton City, Johannesburg.

The beautiful store is home to Ted’s SS16 menswear, women’s wear and accessory collections.

I was extremely shocked to find out that no two Ted Baker stores are the same; I could live in this store fashionistas!

Inspiration for this one of a kind space was drawn from the lush Shakespeare garden inside the Johannesburg Botanic Gardens, whereby plants mentioned within the works of William Shakespeare are refined in a beautiful and tranquil setting. I love Ted’s idea of bringing Elizabethan sumptuousness found in England, to South Africa.

Shakespeare’s influence is undeniable in this store as the skull from ‘Hamlet’ and the scales from ‘The Merchant of Venice’ are just some of the treasures that can be found placed around the space. Luxurious, heavy velvet fabrics and drapes fall from the ceiling, and give the space a little bit of a softer feel.

“The soul of the man is his clothes” and, “And though she be but little, she is fierce” – A Midsummer Night’s Dream. These are the quotes that mark the menswear and women’s wear shopping sections in neon. This is a smart way by Ted to get his customers thinking while shopping.

This beautiful space makes me want to visit everyday!

“I like this place and I could willingly waste my time in it” -Celia, As You Like It. Act II, Scene IV
