About two months ago, I had this amazingly extravagant idea that I would have my white wedding in Mauritius. So my first step was to actually go to Mauritius and try out some of the hotels my guests would have to stay at.
My favourite had to be LUX* Belle Mare. LUX* Belle Mare is a five star hotel that is tucked away in lush tropical gardens near the small and sweet village of Belle Mare. My general experience of the hotel was just amazing, it has a young and vibrant energy and killer views from every angle. The LUX* Belle Mare is the perfect place to visit in the spring/summer because it is on the side of the island that is slightly windy so the breeze works to your advantage because Mauritian summers are blazing hot.
Variety seems to be the spice of life at LUX* Belle Mare as there were no less than ten food and beverage stores. Choices include Indian cuisine at Amari by Vineet, home style Chinese cooking at Duck Laundry (which was my favourite), international dining at Mixe, fresh-from-the-sea seafood at Beach Rouge, Latin American flavours at the Gourmet Food Truck and even herb garden cooking masterclasses. For the coffee lovers, there was freshly roasted coffee at Cafe LUX*, craft beers for the drinkers at the K-Bar and a unique sensory experience at the Tea House, resort living has never tasted so good.
Ultimately, although hotel hopping was everything, I changed my mind about a location wedding because I think it would have been much too much of an effort on my guests’ side and I would just love for my guests to sit back, relax and enjoy mine and my husband’s special day.
